Is this service free?
Yes, completely. No account, no subscription, no hidden fees. The live engine and all 197 route guides are free.
How confident should I be in the recommendations?
Each recommendation comes with a confidence level — HIGH, MEDIUM, or LOW. HIGH means the geometry strongly favours one side (e.g. Delhi–Leh where the entire Kullu Valley is west of the flight track). LOW means both sides are broadly similar and the difference is marginal. Check the route guide for details.
My route isn't listed. Can I still get a recommendation?
Yes — use the
live engine and enter any origin and destination. It computes a recommendation from scratch for any airport pair. The static route guides at
/posts/ are pre-computed for 197 popular routes.
Why does the live engine give a different answer than the route guide?
The live engine uses your exact departure time to compute the real-time sun position. A 6 AM and a 2 PM departure on the same route can have different optimal sides due to sun angle. The static route guide gives a general recommendation that's correct for most departures.
Do you work with airlines or booking platforms?
No. We're fully independent. No airline, OTA, or seat upgrade service pays us or influences our recommendations. The data is purely geometric.
